Brendan Steele posted a six-over-par 73-79-73-69 — 294 at The CJ Cup @ Shadow Creek in Las Vegas last week to finish tied for 65th place.
His tournament driving accuracy of only 58.93% seemed to lead to a greens-in-regulation difficulty (only 59.72%) and his putter was not helping (-1.293 strokes to the field each day), but on Sunday he got it together.
He pounded drives averaging 301.5 yards into 64.29% of the fairways and hit 77.78% of the greens in regulation while gaining 2.160 strokes on the field putting.
So, the Idyllwild native should be ready to tee it up this week in the $8-million ZOZO Championship @ Sherwood at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks. He’ll open play with Andrew Landry and Gary Woodland teeing off Thursday at 10:45 a.m. and Friday at 11:51 a.m.

On Saturday Oct. 15, two Minor League games were played. The first game was between the Idyllwild Heating and Cooling Bobcats and the American Legion Hurricanes.
