Readers Write: A rebuttal to Rabbi Drucker’s letter

ByIdyllwild Town Crier September 13, 2018 Reading Time: 2 minutes

Editor: Sorry to contradict, but Rabbi Drucker’s reasoning is flawed. The issue is not what’s fair. The issue is what’s legal. No nation is only “for itself,” though a person may be only for himself. A nation is a society bounded by laws which, in our case, are freely chosen and agreed to by the…

Readers Write: Pine Cove is different from Idyllwild

ByIdyllwild Town Crier September 13, 2018 Reading Time: 2 minutes

Editor: One should first ask, “Why does IWD want to consolidate? Is it out of the goodness of their hearts or would it bring some advantage to the customers in Pine Cove or Fern Valley?” The answer to all of the above is a resounding no. Consolidation is an advantage to only one small group…

Readers Write: Group is a sham

ByIdyllwild Town Crier September 13, 2018 Reading Time: 1 minute

Editor: This watershed group is a sham. They masquerade as environmentalists. They have no intent to define a scope or define measurable outcomes other than consolidation as if that leads to good watershed management because they were recruited. Outrageous. I’m for good watershed management and production of safe, reliable drinking water. That’s not Idyllwild Water…

    Readers Write: Enough is enough

ByIdyllwild Town Crier September 13, 2018 Reading Time: 2 minutes

Editor: It’s about time the Watershed Watchdogs put this level of attention into their own district and leave ours alone. Who’s in Stage 2 Water Restrictions, anticipating another dry winter? Pine Cove and Fern Valley water district? Who’s held a Transparency Certificate and a District of Distinction Award from the state? PCWD Who sends out…

Readers Write: How to level the balance of power

ByIdyllwild Town Crier September 13, 2018 Reading Time: 1 minute

Editor: Americans have received a valuable lesson regarding democracy and the balance of power. Trump, as leader of the Executive Branch, has vowed to choose two or more ultra-conservative Supreme Court justices for the Judicial Branch. In the Legislative Branch, the Republican Party controls the Senate and Congress. Republicans follow the president’s agenda in lock…

ByIdyllwild Town Crier September 13, 2018 Reading Time: 3 minutes

70 years ago – 1948 The Sportland amusement center burned to the ground. 65 years ago – 1953 Forty volunteer searchers combed the hills of upper Fern Valley searching for a 7-year-old girl who had wandered off with her dog. She was found in the middle of the night curled up asleep in the middle…

    By September 13, 2018September 13, 2018 Reading Time: 1 minute

About 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, an unidentified man from Hemet apparently had a seizure and drove his white 2005 Toyota Corolla into a parked silver 2015 Honda Civic on Ridgeview Drive, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Graham Annestad. The Civic was parked in front of Suburban Propane. The Corolla driver was transported by Idyllwild Fire ambulance to Hemet Valley Medical Center in stable condition. No other occupants were involved as there were no passengers in the Corolla and the Desert Hot Springs owners of the parked Civic were not able to be located. Voluntary water tax does not surface before Legislature adjourns

By September 13, 2018 Reading Time: 1 minute

Among the hundreds of bills the state Legislature did not pass was Senate Bill 845. This proposal would allow water customers throughout the state to voluntarily give or “tax” themselves to provide a source of funds for assisting disadvantaged communities to install projects to ensure safe drinking water for their customers. The amount would have…
