Gary Allen Schmidt, 56, a 30-year resident of San Diego and part-time resident of Idyllwild, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet.

Mr. Schmidt was born Aug. 17, 1943, in Wisconsin. He was a veteran of the Air Force. Mr. Schmidt was a self-employed computer programmer analyst for 25 years. His hobbies included computers and writing his own computer programs. He enjoyed fixing things and relaxing at the cabin in the mountains. He married his wife, Janice, on Oct. 30, 1999.

A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Skyline Wesleyan Church in Rancho San Diego, with a private inurnment. Miller-Jones Mortuary and Crematory of Hemet handled arrangements.

Besides his wife, Janice, of San Diego, he is survived by two daughters, Traci and Amber Schmidt of Arthur, Ill.; a brother, Michael Schmidt of Menomonee Falls, Wis.; four grandchildren, Tasha, Joshua, Bradley and Brittany Mohney, all of San Diego; and three stepchildren, Bryan, Trisha and Cristopher Mohney, also all of San Diego.
