A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at Chapel in the Pines in Idyllwild for Michael Dailey Pond Jr., son of Michael D. and Diana Pond Sr. of Idyllwild.

Michael died of natural causes at a friend’s house in Desert Hot Springs at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at age 36.

He was born and raised in Northern California. His family moved to the desert in 1973.

Michael was married and lived in Norco until an accident left him a paraplegic in 1984. He resided in Idyllwild until his move back to the desert where he was living and recuperating from a neck injury just three weeks prior to his death.

Along with his parents, he is survived by a son, Christopher M. Pond of Colorado; a sister, Heather C. Pond of Washington; grandmothers Bonnie Wheeler of Martinez and Norma Thiessen of Hayward; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Northern California.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Orange County Ronald McDonald House, 383 S. Batavia, Orange, CA 92868.
