Clarice Verna Hollis, 78, died quietly on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at Hemet Valley Medical Center with her family at her side.

Mrs. Hollis was born in Tucson, Ariz., in 1924 and moved to California in 1948 to be with her husband, Hollis C. Hollis, a career Navy man.

Her life was always centered around her family whether taking care of her elderly mother or older sister, or working to keep a family — spread over three states — together. She also endured many years of near-constant pain as a result of post-polio syndrome.

From 1960 to 1971, Mrs. Hollis lived in Idyllwild with her family where her husband was assigned as a Riverside County resident deputy for the mountain area.

Graveside services were held at Riverside National Cemetery on Friday, Nov. 29.

Mrs. Hollis is survived by her husband of 58 years; three daughters, Rosalie Ely of Winchester, Claudia Brown of Tempe, Ariz. and Vicki Aubert of Parker, Colo.; a son, John Hollis of Yucaipa; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
