Richard “Scotty” Oyen

Richard “Scotty” Oyen, 89, of Hemet passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012. He was married to Dorrit for 57 years. They spent their honeymoon at the Idyllwild Inn in 1944. Dorrit passed away in 2003.

Scotty was a longtime resident of Idyllwild. For years, he spent his Saturdays at “The Pantry” enjoying coffee with this long time friends. He was a fixture in Idyllwild as you would often hear a “Hey Scotty” ringing through the community. When moving to Hemet a few years back, he made sure to have the Town Crier delivered to his door so he could keep up with his Idyllwild family.

Scotty will best be remembered for his sense of humor. He had a punch line for almost every situation. He was jolly, kind and will be greatly missed.

Services will be private and his ashes will be scattered in Idyllwild.

He is survived by his two daughters, Deirdre “Dee” Butcher and Debra Lunger of Hemet; four grandchildren, Shawn Hoffman of Estes Park, Colo., Nicole Picchiottino of Hemet, Jarrod Frahm of Mission Viejo and Logan Frahm of San Francisco; and four great-grandchildren, Keleigh Acosta Picchiottino of Hemet, Aislynn Hoffman of Estes Park, Colo., Jackson Frahm and Grace Frahm of Mission Viejo.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Animal Rescue Friends, P.O. Box 719, Idyllwild, CA 92549.
