William H. Botting, 87, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Dec. 16, 2012, at Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, Wash., after a brief illness. William was born on Feb. 17, 1925, in Weymouth, Mass., to Eugene and Ruth Botting of Hingham.
William served this country as a Navy/Marine medic during World War II and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He briefly worked as a meter reader for Southern California Edison. He went on to work for Eastern Airlines in Hartford, Conn., and then moved back to California working for Scandinavian Airlines Systems until he retired in 1984.
While a 22-year resident of El Segundo, Calif., he was involved with Boy Scout Troop 267. After retiring to Pine Cove, Calif., he and his wife enjoyed many trips in their RV providing camp hosting services to many state parks in Oregon and Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Fred and survived by his wife, Elizabeth, four children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Bay View Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, Wash., on Jan. 13, 2013.
