Town Hall Sports Coordinator Jeremy Teeguarden reported on youth basketball for both the College League (kindergarten through third-grade) and the Pro League (third- through sixth-grade) for the week of Feb. 5.

All playoff games on Friday, Feb. 8 were canceled because of the snow.

College League (Kindergarten through third-grade)
This week, the College League (grades K-3) began its playoff season. The final standings are below.

On Tuesday, Feb. 5, the College League playoffs began with a game between the fourth-seeded Pacific Slope Tree Co. Bulldogs and the fifth seeded Bluebird Cottage Inn Jayhawks. The winner moved on in the playoffs and meets first-seeded Wooley’s Wildcats.

The Jayhawks took the lead in the second quarter as Ethan Scott made several baskets for his team. At halftime, the Jayhawks lead 12-9. The Jayhawks extended their lead early in the third quarter. But the Bulldogs had one last charge in the fourth quarter.

Reese Whitney hit a nice long shot to cut the lead to three points with a minute to go. The Bulldogs got a couple more shots to get closer but the Jayhawks played good defense and won 19-16.

In the next round of the playoffs, the Jayhawks will play the Wildcats and the Idyllwild Rotary Bears and the Gastrognome Broncos meet. These games were re-scheduled for Tuesday evening, Feb. 12.

The championship and consolation games for both the College and Pro Leagues are still scheduled for Friday, Feb. 15. The College League games are at 5 and 6 p.m., and the Pro League games follow at 7 and 8 p.m.
