Karen Michaelle Hamilton, 66, originally of Anza, passed away peacefully at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at her residence in Hemet.

She was born Feb. 18, 1949, in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She had attended Penn State University.

Karen was a residence of Anza for 20 years, owning her own deli, before coming to Idyllwild and becoming a long-time produce manager at Fairway Market.

In 2013, health issues forced Karen and family to move to Hemet where her hard, two-year battle with kidney cancer ended.

Karen so loved her cooking, dogs, the ocean, friends, family and wife Geri Peterson.

Loving survivors include her wife of 11 years, Geri Peterson of Idyllwild; her son, Jerry Mitchell of Idyllwild; her daughter, Debra Slaughter of Kansas City, Missouri; and the entire family of Riverside American Poolplayers Association.

She was preceded in death by both her mother and father of Pennsylvania.

Karen will be set free at sea. Her memorial will be held at Shooters, 121 E. Florida Ave., Hemet, at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016.

Karen will be missed and remembered most by her fantastic cooking and her out-of-this-world cinnamon rolls. We love you, Karen.
