Saturday morning, Jan. 28, I was taken to the hospital with severe back pain. After I was in the ambulance, I asked one of the young men to go back into the house to get my boots. After he brought my boots, we left.

They took me to the hospital and before I knew it, they had left. I didn’t have my boots.

Living in Idyllwild for the last 17 years I figured we could just go by the station and ask them for my boots that were left in the ambulance.

Not how it works in Idyllwild. On the afternoon of Jan. 31, there was a knock on the door. My granddaughter answered. It was a loving young Idyllwild Fire Department man, personally delivering my boots back to me.
