Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the association’s regular monthly tourney held on St. Patrick’s Day, Friday, March 17, at the Morongo Tukwet Canyon Legends course in Beaumont.

It was a beautiful warm day and the course was in good shape.

Pete Holzman’s new swing paid off with a gross 79, net 63 (his course handicap was 16) to win the tourney by six strokes. John LoGiudice (23) came in second with his net 69. Jeff White (7) took third with a net 71, Dennis Chavez (9) was fourth with a net 72 and Chris Kramer (40) rounded out the top five with a net 73.

The closest-to-the-pin winners on the four par-3 holes were White on hole numbers 4 and 17, Kramer on hole no. 8, and David Hiemenz on hole 15.

For the 2016-2017 season, which started in August  and runs through July, Here are the current point standings:

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. Also, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.

A member has to compete in at least five regular-season tournaments to qualify for the playoffs.

The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
