On Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, Ron Perry greeted the sunny morning with his usual enthusiasm and delight at living another day in paradise. After two passionate games of pickle ball with friends, he dozed off and passed away.
Born in Monterey Park on July 17, 1939, Ron served in the U.S. Air Force for four years at Nellis AFB in Nevada where he learned to program computers. He moved to California and worked at Honeywell, Sperry Univac and the Atomic Energy Commission. For 40-plus years he ran Incompass Inc.
A pioneer of early road rallying with the Sports Car Club of America, he won many races and owned iconic American muscle cars. His family enjoyed trips rock climbing, hiking the mountains by Lake Isabella and riding dune buggies. Ron was an avid sportsman, playing his heart out at beach volleyball, racquetball and pickle ball.
Community service included serving as president of his HOA in Irvine and working with the Irvine Police Cepartment.
In Idyllwild in 2004, he married Doris. He served on the Pine Cove Water District Board of Directors, and volunteered with Mountain Disaster Preparedness, the Idyllwild Area Historical Society and for 16 years, the Mountain Communities Fire Safe Council as vice-president, GSOB hunter and Woodie.
Survivors include his wife Doris Lombard; his son,Jim (Marsha) Perry; daughter Renee Perry; grandchildren, Clara, Samuel and Hannah Perry; brother Ken (Ikuko) Perry; sister Lynette (David) Perry Hoffman; and brother Michael Perry.
