Kathleen “Kitty” Thomas, 80, former Idyllwild resident, died of natural causes at Vencor Hospital in Brea, on Tuesday, August 29, 2000.

She was born in Akron, Ohio, on April 21, 1920.

Mrs. Thomas moved to Idyllwild in 1963, where she owned and operated Alpine Pantry and then Chef in the Forest restaurants.

She had served as a director on the board of Fern Valley Water District.

She retired from the food service business and then moved to Placentia for health reasons, but still owned property in Fern Valley.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at Rose Drive Friends Church in Yorba Linda, conducted by the Rev. C.W. Perry.

She is survived by two sons, Paul Thomas of San Raphael and Robert Thomas of Hemet; a daughter, Suzanne Cassity of Placentia; six brothers, two sisters, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
