William L. Brooks, 77, of Palm Desert died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000.
Mr. Brooks was born in Burley, Idaho, on Dec. 28, 1922. He was the co-founder of Brooks and Sims Produce Distributors in Los Angeles.
He retired in 1979 and had been living in Palm Desert since then.
Mr. Brooks was a well-known and highly-respected member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 39 years and was a member of the Idyllwild Church of Religious Science.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn; four children, Kathleen Gebauer, William C. Brooks, Cynthia Brooks and Barry Brooks; six grandchildren; and his sister, Marilyn Sherbourne of Walnut Creek.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at the Idyllwild Church of Religious Science.
