obit-boevers

In loving memory of Michael Allen Boevers born in Long Island, New York, Nov, 24, 1956, and died Saturday, May 3, 2014.

Michael was raised in the mountain communities of Anza and Idyllwild since age 6. He was known and loved by many. He attended Hemet High School, served in the U.S. Coast Guard, drove long-haul trucks and spent time in Alaska as a deep-sea fisherman.

Michael was a long-time member of Anza Baptist Church  and often attended  Chapel in the Pines in Mountain Center.

Among his many gifts and talents were music and art. He loved to play his guitar, and enjoyed drawing and woodworking. Through Michael’s year-long illness, he continued to be a blessing and encourager to all who came in contact with him.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Taylor Smith and beloved grandson Ryley Smith; two sisters, Carrie Brooks of Palm Desert and Myra Rogers of Florida; and two nephews, Jason Brooks and Danny Rogers.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Camp Ronald McDonald/Apple Canyon Center at 56400 Apple Canyon Road in Mountain Center. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations payable to his sister, Carrie Brooks, be made to help the family with expenses incurred over his long illness. Donations may be brought to the memorial service or dropped at Idyllwild’s StopLight Thrift Shop on Cedar Street.

For more information regarding the memorial service, call Pastor Bob Reece at 951-763-4937 or Pastor Wally Boer at 951-659-0097.
