Obituary
Elea Allison
1933-2015

obit-allisonElea Allison, past long-time Idyllwild resident, passed peacefully away on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, with family members at her bedside in Escondido.

Elea was born in Los Angeles on March 30, 1933, to Thresher “Tom” and Adele Rippey. She was raised in Laguna Beach and also lived in Capistrano Beach. She married Richard M. Lease and together they had three children.

Following her divorce from Richard, she met and married Levi “Scotty” Allison. Moving to Idyllwild in 1961, Scotty and Elea opened the Alpine Market in Fern Valley. Her parents had a cabin on Indian Rock Road for many years prior to this time.

Scotty died tragically in a car crash just years later. Elea maintained the market but eventually sold it. She worked in many places on the Hill while raising her children.

She was an artist by trade but her greatest talent  was making intricate pine-needle baskets.

Elea loved to travel, especially throughout Mexico, settling in San Miguel de Allende and eventually to a beach-side home in Rosarito, Baja California.

She loved Idyllwild and had many old-time friends here, but ultimately her heart was in Mexico.

Elea was pre-deceased by both husbands. She is survived by daughters Marylin (Dave) Angeloff of Hemet and Teresa Lease of Idyllwild; and son Thomas Lease of Rosarito. She had eight grandkids, 12 great-grandkids and various other relatives.

No services are planned. Her ashes will be scattered at sea in Laguna Beach. She will be missed by many who loved her.
