George Schultejann, born Jan. 2, 1939, in Lombard, Illinios, peacefully transitioned into heaven on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, in Mesa, Arizona, with his family at his side.

George lived in Idyllwild with the love of his life, Jeanette, since 1967. George grew up in Illinois and attended Michigan State. He and Jeanette married in 1959 and moved to Riverside County in 1963.

George worked for the California Department of Forestry and loved his work in fire protection and service to our communities. George was one of the first firemen at Pine Cove Station 23. He retired as a Riverside County fire marshall.

George, always concerned about local issues, was Pine Cove Property Owners Association president and County Service Area 38 chair for many years.

He taught fire science at Mt. San Jacinto Community College, sharing his passion and knowledge with others. He was a Boy Scout leader in Idyllwild. He was associate pastor of Chapel in the Pines Christian Fellowship. George was a man of faith and all who met him knew of his love of our Lord.

Besides his wife, he leaves behind daughter Cindy and her husband Eric Olson of Mountain Center; son Greg and his wife Jennifer of Apache Junction, Arizona; and two grandsons, David and Bryan Olson, both of San Diego.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cal Fire Museum, cdfmuseum@yahoo.com.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at San Jacinto Valley Cemetery in San Jacinto.
