Nicholas Thomas Bailey, 69 years young, of Idyllwild, passed away suddenly at his home Saturday, July 30, 2016.

Nick was born in Los Angeles on Sept. 28, 1946, to Nathan and Helen Bailey.

He attended Huntington Park High School, joined the Army after graduating in 1964 and served in the Vietnam War.

He married Patricia Lampman on Dec. 26, 1975, and together they raised their three children, Michelle Bailey, David Bailey and Michelle Windsor.

He founded and owned Bailey’s Surplus Office Furniture, Doryce Florist and Idyllwild Design Center. He was a businessman and entrepreneur who enjoyed participating in car shows, and spent long hours in his “man cave.”

He never stopped working. If he wasn’t working on his cars, a ’65 Corvette and his latest hot rod, a ’32 Vicky, he would take on projects around his properties.

He was best known to his family as the “Mayor of Idyllwild.” Nick also was a proud member of C.S.C., Corvette Club and Shanty Shakers R.V. Club.

Nick is survived by his wife Patricia Bailey; his children Michelle Bailey, David Bailey and Michelle Windsor; his grandchildren Cooper Bailey, Nathaniel Bailey, Devon Bailey, Makayla Henson Bailey, Dylan Bailey and Ian Bailey; and last, but not least, his beautiful pets Peanut, Nico and Opie. He was predeceased by parents Helen and Nathan Bailey.

Memorial services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016.
