Graveside services for Charlotte C. Harris, 68, were held at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 1999, at Riverside National Cemetery. She died Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Hemet Valley Medical Center. The cause of death is undetermined pending a doctor’s report.

Miller-Jones Mortuary handled funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Harris was born in Independent, Kan. She lived in Idyllwild for 11 years and prior to that, was an Imperial Valley resident. For 11 years, she was a school bus driver for the San Pascal Unified School District in Winterhaven, Calif.

Mrs. Harris was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 800, a charter member of the Idyllwild Lioness Club and a volunteer for the Senior Nutrition Center when it was at the Idyllwild-Pine Cove Community Center.

She enjoyed desert flora and fauna, gardening, and cared for stray animals.

Mrs. Harris is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dwight; a son, Eugene Harris of San Diego; a daughter, Jo Ellen Hunt of Milton, Fla.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Cron of Palmdale.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 7130 Magnolia Ave., Suite S, Riverside 92504.

The Harris family wishes to thank Dr. and Mrs. Humenik, the Pine Cove and Idyllwild fire departments, the Hemet Valley Medical Center staff and all their friends and neighbors for their sympathies and support.
