Eliza “Lydee” Scudder died from cancer on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, surrounded by her children.

Lydee was born in Massachusetts and lived there, as well as Connecticut, London and Altadena, during her school years. Two of her most meaningful experiences as a young adult were living in Zambia with her father, and later working on the Navajo reservation.

Lydee had an affable, compassionate and quirky personality, and was a friend and mentor to people in her many communities. She enjoyed country dancing, danced with the Bay Area Country Dance Society and was a founder of the North Bay Country Dance Society while living in Northern California.

In 2005, Lydee remarried and moved to Mountain Center. She was known for her warm smile and easy conversation.

Lydee was dedicated to helping people and animals with Jin Shin Jytsu. After rescuing two horses, she also began to practice equine-assisted therapy. She was passionate about using these practices to support the health of friends, family and clients.

Lydee was predeceased by her husband, Jack Williamson. She is survived by parents Molly and Ted Scudder; sister Alice Scudder; children Kacie, Andrew and Patrick King; grandchild Dara; horses Echo, Queenie and Cruiser; and dogs Rupa, Bella and Beauty.

Details for a celebration of life will be shared with family and friends when available. Donations may be made in Lydee’s name to ARF of Idyllwild or to Golden Carrot Equine Rescue.
