Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Norma Gooding left us peacefully on Friday, June 19.

Norma was born to Bob and Rosa (Cardin) Wingfield on Sept. 19, 1925 in Cushing, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of five daughters.

During World War II while she was in high school, Norma’s sweetheart, Kenneth Gooding, came home on his first leave to marry her on Feb. 23, 1944.

Norma was a long-time resident of Idyllwild and owner of Woodland Park Manor in Fern Valley from 1960 to 1975. She was an amazing seamstress, quilter, cook, and a lover of adventure, travel and the outdoors — a lover of life.

She is survived by two sons David (Sally) Gooding of Port Townsend, Washington and Roger (Mickey) Gooding of Huntington Beach; two daughters Becki (Dana) Blackham of Edmonds, Washington and Gena (Doug) McDermott of Corona; eight grandchildren Geoff (Shannon) Gooding of Port Orchard, Washington, Casey Gooding of Santa Cruz, Kirk Gooding (Grazel Alinsonorin) of the Philippines, Tricia Gallagher of Costa Mesa, Ken (Bridget) Evans of Reno, Nevada, Jarred Evans of Reno, Nevada, Colin (Charlotte) McDermott of Oceanside and Evan McDermott of Victorville; and six great-grandchildren who will all treasure the gifts of her love and life forever.

Norma’s family rejoices in her reuniting with the love of her life, Ken, who passed in April 2005.
