Robert Paul Garron
Idyllwild resident Robert Garron died at the age of 81 on Jan. 18, 2012, from complications of a brain stem stroke. He passed away at the home of his oldest daughter, Kathleen Black, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Garron was born Oct. 26, 1930. in Boston, Mass., to Emily and Clarence Garron. He was raised in the Boston area with his two siblings, Joe and Marie, and spent many summers in rural Vermont with his father’s family.

Upon graduation he immediately joined the U.S. Navy, serving for 20 years. He moved his family from the small town of East Bridgewater, Mass., to Southern California in 1964. His military career was followed by 20 years with Los Angeles County.

Robert was known fondly as “Bob” to all his friends, of which there were many. He was always engaged with the world around him. He was active in his community, his church, and very dedicated to his large family. He and his wife retired to the mountain community of Idyllwild in 1996 where they quickly became immersed in the life of the community, volunteering for the Mountain Community Patrol, the Idyllwild Music and Arts Festival, and their church, Queen of Angels.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia Garron, his 6 children: Kathleen Black, Patricia Garron, Shelly Mariposa, Tom Garron, Pete Garron and Virginia Kerst; his 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
