George Moore, 79, died of cancer on Aug. 15, at Eisenhower Medical Center. Mr. Moore was born in Hardwood, MI. on May 9, 1921.

He served in the United States Navy for six years during WWII. He retired to Idyllwild in 1980, after working for Dow Chemical in Torrance for 30 years.

Mr. Moore was a Master Mason of 50 years, his last affiliation being with Masonic Lodge 668, in Banning. He was also a member of the Idyllwild Hi-Twelve Club and was active in the Idyllwild community.

He was past president of the Friends of the San Jacinto Mountains and was a volunteer at the San Jacinto Nature Center for over 15 years.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Grace, and son Don, of Long Beach, and daughter, Pat, of Banning. He has three grandsons, Robbie, Robert and Brian, and one great-grand child. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Rowe, of Simi Valley.

A memorial service for Mr. Moore will be held Sunday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m., at the Idyllwild Community Presbyterian Church. His remains will be scattered at sea in a private ceremony by family members.
