Gilbert Arthur Morris, 84, of Bakersfield, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009.

He was born to Art and Mabel Morris in San Jacinto.

Gib was raised in the San Jacinto Mountains and Mountain Center, and after serving in the U.S. Navy, he moved to Idyllwild.

He loved Garner Valley and “Deer Camp” on the Morris Ranch Road named after his family.

Gib moved to Bakersfield where he lived until his passing.

Gib is survived by five children, Daniel Gilbert of Florida, Lynne Anne Lorensen of British Columbia, Canada, John Bruce of California, Kathleen Mary Peronto of Florida and Margaret Adele Culp of California; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by his father and mother, Art and Mabel Morris and a brother, Carl.
