Marlene Patterson, 62, of Sun City, died in that city Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001 of cancer. Mrs. Patterson and her husband, Joseph, moved to Sun City on May 1 after living in Idyllwild for 10 years.

Born June 14, 1939 in Torrance, she was a housewife and had served as copresident of the Idyllwild Lioness Club for several years. She also was involved with Alcoholics Anonymous.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 26770 Murrieta Rd., Sun City, with the Rev. Rick Patterson officiating.

Cremains will be scattered at sea on Friday, Sept. 14.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Patterson is survived by a son, Jeff Barr of Hemet; a daughter, Cheryl Brown of Temecula; and five grandchildren.
