June M. Shillabeer, 76, of Idyllwild, died of pneumonia at Hemet Valley Medical Center on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000.

Mrs. Shillabeer was born June 20, 1923, in Johnson City, N.Y. She was a writer for NBC in the mid-1960s of “Faith of our Children” starring June Lockhart, Eleanor Powell and Jane Withers.

She taught creative writing at Learning Tree University in Santa Monica and at Everywoman’s Village in Van Nuys. She also taught creative writing at her home in San Fernando Valley and later at her home in Idyllwild for 12 years. She also wrote books on tape.

Mrs. Shillabeer and her husband, Lloyd, moved part-time to Idyllwild in 1984 and full-time in 1987.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at the Church of Religious Science in Idyllwild with the Rev. Betty Jandl officiating. Her ashes will be scattered later on the family plot in upper New York.

Besides her husband Lloyd of 55 years, Mrs. Shillabeer is survived by two sons, Sergei Shillabeer of Troy, Ala. and Kevin Shillabeer of Big Bear; a daughter, Abbe Mulvena of Front Royal, Va.; a brother, Richard Hughes of Buffalo, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Liza Hinton.
