Vernon K. Smith, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at home in Garner Valley.

Mr. Smith was born April 22, 1924. He was a World War II veteran and retired from Hughes Aircraft.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Miller Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida Ave., Hemet.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eileen Smith of Garner Valley; a sister, Maureen Hogan of New York; three sons, David Roy Smith of Idyllwild, Gene and wife Cathy Smith of Laguna Niguel, and Gaylen and wife Becky Smith of Idyllwild; two daughters, Penny and husband Greg Vicari of Oregon, and Sandy and husband Gordon Campbell of Colton; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
