Robert Lewis, Town Hall recreation director, gave this report on Town Hall Youth Basketball.

The Idyllwild Middle School girls basketball team won the sixth-annual Mountain Middle School Tournament held at Hamilton High School. Division 1 playoffs (ages 6-9)

On Tuesday, Feb. 13, the American Legion Warriors played the Acumen Tree Service Celtics. Sergio Ortega had a very good game for the Warriors with 10 points, however, Salvador Solorio countered with 10 points for the Celtics as they beat the Warriors 18-13.

In the second game, the Café Aroma Lakers hosted the Idyology Bulls. This was a very tight contest that came down to the very end. Indigo Dagnall scored 15 of the 17 points for the Lakers. Logan Wilkerson had the hot hand for the Bulls with 12 points, but at the end, the Lakers hung on for a 17-15 win over the Bulls.

On Friday, Feb. 16, the Idyology Bulls played the American Legion Warriors for third place. This game went into overtime. Gus Peterson had a good game for the Bulls with 4 points and grabbed many rebounds. Roger Gonzalez had a bucket and played great defense for the Warriors. In overtime, Logan scored the only bucket in overtime for the Bulls as the they got third place with a 14-12 win over the Warriors.

The championship game had the Acumen Tree Service Celtics battle the Café Aroma Lakers. This game came down to the wire as well. The Celtics built up a lead thanks to Tony Solorio playing great for the Celtics with 5 points and blocking numerous shots. However, Indigo got hot in the fourth quarter with 8 points for the Lakers as they completed the comeback with a 25-24 win over the Celtics and are champions of Division 1.

Division 2 playoffs (ages 10-13)

On Thursday, Feb. 15, the Idyology Warriors played the Higher Grounds Coffee House Kings. Griffin Kretsinger had a very good game for the Warriors with 8 points. Cody Fogle was hot in the 2nd quarter with 7 points, including a 3-pointer as the Kings advanced to the championship game with a 31-19 win over the Warriors.

On Friday, Feb. 16, the Fairway Market Spurs played the Higher Grounds Coffee House Kings in the championship game. Dane Mock led the scoring for the Spurs with 12 points and grabbed many rebounds. However, Anthony Bilecky made 2 crucial baskets for the Kings as they beat the Spurs 28-22 and are champions of Division 2 .

 

We appreciate all the parents who took time out of their busy schedules for their kids, and the coaches for their time, effort and dedication toward their players and Town Hall basketball, as well as the sponsors that helped supplement Town Hall’s revenue that keeps the costs down for the parents. Jessica and Brennen Priefer, and Rachel Teeguarden gave their time, are always reliable and keep it fun as scorekeepers and referee.

Town Hall is accepting registrations for Coed Youth Volleyball and Coed Adult Basketball.at Town Hall between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Volleyball

Mike Holato of Town Hall gave this report on the recent Coed Adult Volleyball championship games.

 

Silver Pines won the Adult Coed Volleyball League Championships. There were some some close and exciting games in this year’s playoffs.

Idyllwild Brewpub fought off an improved Perez team in three sets 25-22, 25-18, 25-23. The next three matches all went the maximum of five sets.

In the next match, Wilson Woodworking edged out Idyllwild Brewpub 25-17, 25-15, 23-25, 21-25 and 16-14.

In another close-fought match, Silver Pines defeated Idyllwild Garage 25-14, 17-25, 25-19, 24-26 and 15-13. In the finals, Silver Pines was down two sets to one but rallied back to win an exciting match, 25-10, 20-25, 19-25, 25-16 and 15-11.
