Editor: Congratulations to June Rockwell and Steven Kunkle. The people have spoken. Perhaps they should have run another candidate as a three-member slate. Smoke and mirrors by IWD board members and management have been the game to date. Board weakness/bias/self-interest are like cancers to be cut out and eliminated from public office. Conduct by IWD…
Editor: In light of the results of the recent Idyllwild Water District election I would to make the following comments. First of all, congratulations to the new board. The people of Idyllwild spoke with a loud and unified voice that they want to see change. I strongly suggest that Michael Freitas, a current board member,…
Editor: Make a reminder when your dog license needs to be renewed. The county doesn’t always send a renewal, but they are happy to send a late notice notifying you owe $25 more now that it is 30 days past the renewal date. You can email them at rabiescontrol@rivcocha.org with your dog’s license number to…
Last week’s story told of Idyllwild Fire considering mortgaging the people’s fire house to not only pay for two ambulances and station improvement projects, but increasing salaries and benefits. Building reserves within a budget to deal with emergencies, such as the brush truck’s engine failure, seems wise. But spending $90,000 on what appeared to be…
A few months back at a Mountain communities Fire Safe Council board meeting, we discussed putting together some questions to present to our local government forester. Editor: The old Woodies, Soroptimists, bored members of all organizations and Rotarians have got to go. Few of them can hear anyway. The aging Community Patrol has got to go. Toadies and Idyllwild functionaries — gotta go. Isn’t it possible to have worked tirelessly for too darn long? To have protected the streets of Idyllwild…
Editor: The more I research the toxic effects of pesticides, food additives, GMOs and excitotoxins, the more I’m curious about the causes of some common ailments. I began thinking about arthritis. Some people have it worse than others, some not at all. I had no idea there are more than 100 different types of arthritis….
Editor: This is what President Reagan said a few years ago. It is timeless and so true. Here in American, our daily lives evolve around it. Can you imagine not to have freedom? Freedom of speech, freedom of religions, just to name two. Without freedom we would not have the lifestyle we are living —…
I question whether Idyllwild Water District is truly serving, as well as accommodating, its customers. For the past six years, it has attempted to gain access to a well it drilled on Pine Crest private property — property that foreclosed after the well was drilled. Why IWD did not obtain an easement before it drilled…
