ISIS Theatre Company continues its 11th season Friday, April 4, with a reading of Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney’s “Parallel Lives.”

ISIS President and founder Suzanne Avalon and ISIS Vice President Jeri Greene perform this two-woman production.

While Avalon nominally directs the production, she said, “… it is a great collaboration.”

No stranger to being stage front, she added, “I love being on stage. That’s how I started out, oh, so many years ago. Running the company and directing has kept me very busy but being on stage is my truest satisfaction.”

During the performance, the women portray supreme beings planning the beginning of the world, and from there on they play multiple roles of men and women exploring relationships on every level, from its joys and foibles to the battle of the sexes.

One reviewer wrote, what differentiates these writers is “… most [comics] will do anything they can to score a joke; this team will use any joke they can to bring home a message…”

And Variety described the play as “… a romp with a feminist sensibility: it’s a humor for a post-Lily Tomlin generation ... Above all, ‘Parallel Lives’ is a smart, provocative show.”

Be prepared, Avalon said, “The play contains some adult content and is not suitable for children.”

The performance will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the Rainbow Inn. A reception precedes the performance at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $15 and are general admission. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online at www.isistheatrecompany.com.
