Town Crier new weather station

The National Weather Service officials met with Town Crier owner and co-publisher Jack Clark (left) about establishing a NWS weather recording station in Idyllwild at the paper Tuesday morning. Noel Isla (center), observing program leader, discussed the requirements and equipment and was accompanied by Brett Albright (right).

The annual nationwide Sunshine Week is celebrated this year from March 15 to 21. USA newspapers publish stories about public records and the difficulty in obtaining some of them. “Public records” are generally defined as records regardless of their physical form (so email would be included), made or received in connection with the transaction of official business by any government agency.

Youth Grantmakers support local nonprofits

Idyllwild Youth Grantmakers awarded $3,500 last week to four local nonprofits. Above right, the 2015 Youth Grantmaker award recipients are Michelle Johnson, for the Idyllwild School Booster Club, Sandy Wampler, for the Friends of San Jacinto Mountain County Parks, Antje Banks, for the Idyllwild Garden Club, and Rachel Teeguarden, for the San Jacinto Mountain Community Center.
