Lorene Florence Penn, 87, of Blue Springs, Mo., died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in Blue Springs.

She was born July 1, 1914, in Omaha, Neb.

Mrs. Penn and her late husband, Harry Thurland Penn, were co-managers of Buckhorn Camp in Idyllwild for 30 years.

She was a charter member and past president of Soroptimist International of Idyllwild. She also was a member of the Community of Christ Church in the Hemet/San Jacinto area.

A memorial service is planned for 6 p.m. Sunday, July 7 at Community of Christ Church, 3525 Elm Ave., Long Beach. Her nephews, Jay Johnson and John Sneed, will conduct the service. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Penn is survived by a daughter Sue Stauts and her husband James, of Hemet; a daughter Roni Booth and her husband Richard, of Blue Springs, Mo.; two brothers, Donald Johnson of Independence, Mo. and Robert Johnson of Long Beach; two sisters, Catherine Fillhart of Los Alamitos and Lois Wilson of Temple Terrace, Fla.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
