As 2017 began, a series of earthquakes, hundreds, occurred in the area south of the Salton Sea. The Brawley and Imperial area shook and quivered from New Year’s Eve through Monday.
Most of the quakes were Saturday. Their magnitude ranged from a high of 3.9 to less than 2.0. No major damage or injuries were reported.
In late September and early October, another swarm of quakes occurred near this area, but closer to the San Andreas Fault.
