Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” ARF cats discussed their finer qualities.

Murphy: Hello, ARF cats. I’m spayed, vaccinated and ready to go to a forever home.

Murphy

Little Girl:  Congratulations, Murphy. What kind of family do you hope to find?

Murphy: I’d like a family that will take me on walks and maybe even on hikes. I like other dogs, so a friend to play with would be good. I like human kids, too!

Little Girl: I bet there are lots of forever families that fit that description.

Mr. Gray: They just need to meet you.

Little Girl: Maybe you will be walked in town this weekend.

Mr. Gray

Murphy: That would be so much fun. I really like meeting humans.

Indigo: And I heard we have another dog.

Sadie: We do. Her name is Kate and she is a senior citizen.

Little Girl: That’s right. She is a very loving Springer spaniel who is 15 years old.

Kate: Are you speaking about me? I’m Kate.

Heavenly Whiskers

Pepper: Do you like dogs and cats?

Kate

Kate: I do! I’m very good with cats and dogs. I just need a family who will love me and care for me for the rest of my life.

Heavenly Whiskers: Ah, that all sounds so good. I hope someone will open his or her heart and give you a wonderful home.

Kate: Me, too. My foster cannot keep me much longer, and I’m worried.

Little Girl: Don’t worry, Kate. Someone will give you a great home.

Kate: I hope you’re right!

Be sure to keep up with the animal antics of “Days of Our Nine Lives” each week. And please stop in to say hello to the entire adoptable cast at the ARF House, 26890 Hwy. 243 on Saturdays 10-4 and Sundays 10-2, or by appointment M-F by calling 951-659-1122.

Last week in “Days of Our Nine Lives,” ARF cats chatted with Daisy about all things adoption. Sadie: It’s awfully quiet in here. What gives? Mr. Gray: Adoptions, that’s what gives. Sadie: Who? Mr. Gray: The kittens were adopted together, thankfully, and Daisy has been adopted as well! Sadie: Holy catnip! Have they moved far…

By Bobbie Glasheen Believe it or not, I do have a good friend in Idyllwild. Occasionally, we engage in violent struggles of will. Then we threaten to meet up in back of Fairway and beat each other up. I would win, of course. I am taller. We do not fight over important things like racist…

Last Thursday marked the one-month anniversary of the Valentine’s Day deluge resulting in lava-like slides that melted our mountaintop. Next Monday marks the eight-month anniversary since a psychotic man torched a mountainside, causing residents and tourists to flee for days, and damaging the lives of many people who lost their homes or property.
