Since 2002, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has a special website called SciJinks just for students to learn about weather, satellite meteorology and Earth science.

The site includes articles, games and videos targeted toward middle- and high-school-aged students and their educators.

It features articles that answer important questions about weather, games about weather and technology, engaging videos and lots of downloadable content.

For instance, under the category Weather Forecasting are many issues such as these:

• Why does Earth have seasons?

• What is a Solstice?

• Can meteorologists help fight wildfires?

• What’s the difference between weather and climate?

• What is a heat wave?

• Predicting the weather

• Why do leaves change color?

Under Games, the site has hurricane, tornado, rainbow and precipitation simulators. It also has a lightning-making game.

But weather doesn’t just occur on Earth. Even the Sun has weather and it can affect Earth.
