A man arrested in front of Cafe Aroma earlier this year with a first charge of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse has been convicted of a lesser charge of “offensive touching only,” a misdemeanor under Penal Code section 242, according to Riverside County Superior Court records.
Felipe DeJesus Rubio Gomez, also known as Felipe DeJesus Rubio, 23, in a plea bargain, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge on Nov. 25 and waived a right to a jury trial. He was sentenced to 40 days in jail with 12 days already served and the final 28 to be served in the Work Release Program. He also must donate 20 hours of community service and was given 36 months probation.
Along with fines amounting to about $350, he must enroll in a 52-week domestic violence program. The victim also received a criminal protective order for three years.
