A half acre fire was spotted near Highway 74 about 2 miles east of the Forest Service’s Cranston Ranger Station.

The fire was quickly contained and then controlled.

According John Miller, the Forest Service’s Public Affairs Office for the San Bernardino National Forest, Cal Fire participated in the call as well as the local Forest Service units. Helicopters and air tankers were also part of the response, he added.

The fire started around 11 a.m. and no cause has been identified yet, Miller said.
