Butterfly Mint Bush makes an appearance
By

Butterfly Mint Bush, (Monardella antonina), a California native plant, is a real butterfly magnet. It grows 1-foot-high by 2-feet-wide, is a compact, evergreen perennial covered with balls of pale purple with some pink, is a fast grower, and is hardy down to 15 degrees F. The leaves make an excellent tea when used in small amounts and not steeped for too long. The long flowering period is generally between July and December, and the plant thrives in full to partial sun. Photos courtesy of Harold Voorheis
