About 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, a 4.4-magnitude quake occurred near Devore that was felt on the Hill. Devore is in the San Bernardino Mountains, about 70 miles northwest of Idyllwild.
No major damage was reported nor any injuries.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the tremors were felt as far south as Palm Springs and north to Barstow and Palmdale.
Over the next 24 hours, dozens of aftershocks followed this jolt. A 3.8 tremor occurred minutes after the initial quake. None of the ensuing tremors exceeded 3.0 during the following days.
