A Hollywood-based film crew will be affecting traffic during non-peak hours on Highway 243 from Highway 74 in Mountain Center to Diamond Zen Road near Poppet Flats.

From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, the California Highway Patrol will be running traffic breaks (no greater than five minutes) to permit “driving shots with camera mounts on dashboard, rear panel, car hood and car door” of a primary vehicle and a companion camera car at speeds of more than 20 miles per hour above the legal limit.

The driving described in the permit application is characterized as “precision stunt driving with CHP assistance and per CHP discretion.”

Motorists should be aware of potential interruptions during the hours posted.

The information was provided by Terri Kasinga, Caltrans chief, public and media affairs, as a courtesy “heads up” for Hill motorists.
