Some very lucky Riverside County high school students attended the Student Unity Conference on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Riverside Convention Center. Speakers included Dr. Bernice A. King, Celebrity Teen Coach Jesse LeBeau, and motivational speaker Clint Pulver.

The newspaper reached out to Hemet Unified School District’s Public Information Officer Alexandrea Sponheim to get some student feedback on the conference, which definitely made an impact.

“The Unity Conference was an amazing experience that changed my perspective on life,” said Theresa Daigneault. “I now have a more positive outlook on life and I am more thankful for everything I am blessed with. I am so thankful that I was able to attend.”

“The Student Unity Conference is for students who are interested in unlocking the potential in themselves and bringing out the best in everybody around them,” said Riverside County Superintendent Dr. Judy D. White. “We are stronger when we focus on what unites us instead of what divides us and this free conference is perfect for students who want to be the change in their world.”

“The Unity Conference was very fun,” said Presley Jackson. “I learned a lot in just a few hours. The Unity Conference left a great impact on me. I felt motivated and determined to chase my dreams. I am very thankful that I was able to attend the conference.”

Some students were pleasantly surprised by what they learned.

“I didn’t expect to get much out of attending the Unity Conference. However, it was the most uplifting, motivational, and memorable meeting I’ve ever attended,” said Olivia Sorenson. “I was able to take home with me what I learned from the speakers and try to apply it to my own life.”
