Idyllwild’s Bill Whitman ran in the Pasadena Triathlon Saturday finishing third overall in the race, which had nearly 800 participants. Of course, he was first in his age group (50 to 54 years old).
“I had a particularly good race result this weekend … ” Whitman wrote in an email. “The race tried a newer concept of setting up the waves of racers based on estimated finish time instead of age groups.”
Whitman’s overall time was 51:06.5, which was only 62 seconds behind the winner.
The triathlon is composed of three different competitions. The Pasadena Triathlon had a 5,000-meter run, 15k bike segment, and a 150-meter swim.
